Reward offered for wedding ring

Sometime between Sept. 3 and Sept. 4, a break and enter occurred at a unit on Spearhead Drive. The victim had her purse stolen out of a dresser drawer that contained her wedding ring, which was worth approximately $10,000 but of greater sentimental value.

There were no signs of forced entry, and the victim believes one of the doors may have been left unlocked.

There are as yet no suspects and the RCMP are asking for people to come forward if they have any information. The victim has offered a reward for any information leading to the return of the ring.

Telephone fraud targets Whistler hotels

The Whistler RCMP have contacted local hotels to make them aware of a scam whereby one or more people have been calling in and pretending to be telephone repair services. They tell the receptionists that they are checking the lines and ask to be put through to a 900-number extension. This enables the scammers to call long-distance anywhere in the world on the hotel’s tab.
