Following Monday’s snowstorm, which contributed to three minor accidents and left several other drivers on the side of the road or in the ditch, the RCMP are reminding drivers to drive carefully and patiently.
In addition to driving in a way that reflects the road conditions, the RCMP say drivers are also required by law to have proper winter tires, and will be issuing tickets for vehicles that don’t meet the standard. Proper winter tires have no less than 3.5 millimetres of tread, or studs.
The fine for defective tires is $109.
