Ready, Set, Learn coming to Whistler.

The government is launching a new program to connect young families with schools and community resources to address child health and early literacy.

Called Ready, Set, Learn, the program aims to put three-year-olds and their parents in touch with community resource people and the idea of literacy before they get ready to enter kindergarten.

Open houses will be held in Whistler at Spring Creek Elementary on Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. and at Myrtle Philip on Dec.1 at 1 p.m.

Each child will be issued a story book and each parent will receive a variety of information folders from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Children and Family.

Information on talking, books, numbers, feelings, getting along with others, play, T.V., and other issues facing pre-schoolers will be available.
