More than 1,100 multi-family dwelling units are under construction in Whistler this year, the largest construction year in Whistler’s history. According to a press release from the Whistler Real Estate Company, the real estate market has been keeping up with the supply of new units, with 338 sales completed in the first five months of 1996. In 1995 there were 327 sales consummated in the same period. Gross sales volumes for 1996 are up slightly from the same time last year, to $90.5 million. In 1995 the figure was $88.5 million. In 1994 there were 300 sales in the first five months, worth a total of $64.3 million. Sales in Pemberton are also on the increase, with 40 sales reported in the first five months, compared to 18 for the same period last year. Sales volumes in Pemberton were $5,061,500 to May 1996, versus $2,657,850 last year.
