A dozen Whistler youth will soon be asking themselves if fear is a factor for them or not.

The hit reality TV show Fear Factor will be played out Whistler-style next week for 12 fearless Whistler youth.

"It’s all in the name of fun," said Caroline Stroud, who is co-producing and directing Whistler Youth Fear Factor with Christian Kessner.

Students from Grade 7 to 12 will be chosen for the show. There will be four Fear Factor stunts to master before becoming Whistler’s Fear Factor champion and winning the cash prize at the end.

The producers are looking for a boy and girl from each grade. As such the stunts will not be based upon strength, rather skill and speed. That way a Grade 7 girl and a Grade 12 boy can compete against each other equally.

The stunts are top secret for the time being but there will be a stunt that involves food and another stunt that involves height.

Kessner said they are looking for people who are willing to give it all they’ve got and who are also not shy around cameras.

The Whistler Youth Fear Factor will take place from Dec. 12 to 14.

Whistler Cable 6 will be editing the piece and showing it on TV in the New Year.

Stroud, who is the recreation programmer with the Whistler Youth Centre, also hopes to raise the profile of the centre with the Youth Fear Factor.

"There’s a lot of people that don’t really know too much about it," she said.

So now only one question remains: is fear a factor for you?
