Rec gymnasts in the zone

Whistler gymnasts piled on the ribbons at the Zone 5 Interclub Championships last Sunday at the Renfrew Gymnastics Club in Vancouver.

The Interclub division, which was created this year as a bridge between the recreational and competitive programs, has a lot of strong gymnasts who are unable to commit to a competitive gymnasts’ training schedule.

In the 12 and up category, Jocelyn Kay was third on vault and beam, and second on bars and floor to finish fourth all around.

Lizzy MacIssac took a gold on the beam, and was third on bars and fourth on vault and floor to tie Kay for fourth place.

In the 11 and under group, Jocelyn Copan took gold on bars, silver on vault and beam and bronze on the floor to finish second all around.

Chantal Milan won gold on vault and beam, and won silver on the bars and floor to also finish second.
