The Red Bull 400 is set to return to Whistler Olympic Park for a second summer.

Organizers announced the race, which pits runners against each other running 400 metres up the ski jump slope, will take place on July 30.

There will also be a 4x100-metre for firefighters, EMS responders and police officers and one for civilians.

Solo registration is $50 plus fees while the relays are $100 per team plus fees.

Those looking to register or get more information can visit www.redbull.com.

NAET announces largest-ever prize pot for overall winners

The North American Enduro Tour (NAET) has sweetened the pot.

The NAET, which is organized in large part by Whistler-based Crankworx Events Inc., has put up $7,000 for its overall year-end podium finishers.

The male and female winners will each receive $2,000, while the runners-up will each get $1,000. The third-place finishers will go home with $500 each.

Whistler will host two events on the tour this year, with the Whistler Spring Classic on May 28 and 29 and the Whistler Fall Classic on Sept. 10 and 11.

Registration is open for all events at www.naetmtb.com.

Trudeau hits podium at Ore Crusher

As the Test of Metal series of events kicked off its swan song in Squamish, some Whistler riders kicked in to harmonize.

Leah Trudeau performed admirably in the pro women's category, taking third and edging out teammate Cathy Zeglinski by less than four seconds. Trudeau was 3:36.4 seconds back of winner Emily Handford of North Vancouver.

On the men's side, Michael Robinson took fourth, 3:01.4 back of winner Quinn Moberg of Squamish.

In the recreational categories, a couple of locals took victories, as Julia Long won the girls' 14-to-19 race and Tony Routley was victorious in the men's 60-to-69 event. Marjorie Lauzon also hit the podium, scoring third in the women's 40-to-49 category.

Pembertonians make BC Talent Squad

Two Spud Valley Nordics racers are on Cross Country BC's radar.

Marlie Molinaro and Alexa Hunter were recently named to the organization's BC Talent Squad.

The team is made up of athletes born in 2001, 2002 or 2003.

Canoe Kayak Canada seeks hosts

Some of the country's top canoe racers will be in town next month for the Canadian Canoe Slalom team trials.

Canoe Kayak Canada is looking to secure some places to stay while they're here, and they're using a new site to do it.

Athletes will be in the area from May 10 to 22 and are looking to connect with potential hosts through StayBillety, an Ontario-based accommodation service that opened up shop last May.

"We're proud to be partnering on this innovative idea for the benefit of athletes," Canoe Kayak Canada CEO Casey Wade said in a release. "Athletes travel a lot and this partnership opens up a whole new network of options for them."

Other groups that have affiliated with the site include Wake Forest University and Wilfrid Laurier University.
