Reggae-dub class

"Don’t let the name fool you, the Mad Professor is neither insane or angry. (He) has recorded, mixed and produced some of the best reggae to come out of Britain," raved the Washington Post.

Founder of the 200-plus record label Ariwa Records, the Mad Professor’s grade-A assignments include producing Sade, The Beastie Boys, Massive Attack, The Orb, Twinkle Brothers and U Roy, just to name a few.

But the producer is also a superstar in his own right, globally leading the way in reggae-dub innovation with shows around the world, including Moscow’s first dub show playing to 6,000-plus on the dance floor.

Most recently, the professor has been busy doing what he does best, mixing and producing tracks for The Boom, Depech Mode, Jamiroquai, Rancid and Perry Farrel of Jane’s Addiction – who is tentatively coming to Whistler in March.

Study with the best dubtronic and electronica mixes fused with bass ’n’ drum sounds Sunday, Jan. 29 at the GLC with the Mad Professor and Aisha of The Ariwa Posse. Tickets are $10/$15. Call 604-932-0647.
