Reigning national DMC Champ returns to Whistler

The reigning 2005 DMC Canada Champ DJ Drastik, alias Patrick Vaillant from Ottawa, returns to Whistler for the 2006 Long Weekend Jam Sunday, May 21 at Garfinkel’s.

His title hasn’t come without work and more than a dozen wins and second, third and fourth finishes in other turntable competitions dating back to 2001. Vaillant has opened for acts such as 2 Live Crew, The Alkaholiks and Lloyd Banks, just to name a few.

He holds down residencies at Ottawa and Montreal clubs and has expanded his North American fan base to Asia.

From underground, classic hip hop and new club music to R7B, Top 40 and hip hop, his lineup is as his names suggests – Drastik. All the better to give dancers what they want.

Vancouver’s DJ Neoteric kicks off the party. The resident turntablist can be found Monday nights at the city’s Lamplighter. The Futility Records artist’s credits include the Slam City Jam, Vancouver’s Rap Olympics and the Shambhala Music Festival as well as sharing stages with Raekwon of Wu Tang Clan, K-Os, Moka Only and Swollen Members. He recently wrapped up another cross-Canada tour with Caspian, Ashes, The Drunken Arseholes and Kutkorners.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Drastik 11 p.m.
