A big spender who believes he had $15,000 cash stolen while at a Whistler nightclub this week is probably wishing he had brought his credit card to party instead.

The resort visitor hit up a village nightclub with $15,000 in $100 bills stuffed in his jacket, when, sometime around 2 a.m. on Nov. 17, he noticed it missing. A friend of the man's contacted police shortly after to tell them the cash had been stolen, although, given the man was "highly intoxicated" at the time, there is "some speculation that he could have dropped the cash," explained Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.

The man was too intoxicated to provide a statement to police, LeClair said, and at press time had still not spoken with investigators. Police are unsure why he was carrying so much cash on him.

Drunk guy on scooter flees police, say RCMP

When you're trying to escape the long arm of the law, a scooter is probably not your best bet.

It's a lesson a 27-year-old Whistler man learned the hard way Nov. 14 after police noticed him riding his scooter without a license plate or helmet on Nancy Greene Drive. After watching him blow a stop sign, police began pursuing the suspect. He continued on his scooter for some time before cops eventually caught up with him. But the man was not quite ready to turn himself in, bailing off his vehicle and fleeing on foot down Nesters Road, police said.

Mounties eventually caught up with the suspect and apprehended him behind a nearby residence.

He also failed a blood-alcohol test, and was arrested for impaired driving and obstructing police.

Police said the point of entry was likely a garage door that was left unlocked.
