reunion 2000

Reunion 2000 events confirmed Subhead: Loverboy, Powder Blues scheduled for Base II A quick perusal of the e-mail messages on the Reunion 2000 web site is a good, early, indication of the world-wide interest in the week long event planned for anyone who has ever worked in Whistler since Whistler Mountain officially opened in February, 1966. The week of April 23-30 may make a few of the old-timers stop and rest between barbecues and theme nights. Dozens of specially designed parties at clubs and pubs will cover the fashions and fads Whistlerites have seen come and go since the late ’60s. A Theme Nights Bar Pass, good for April 24-30, will cost you $105, but gives you access to four theme nights covering the four decades leading up the reunion. However, the Reunion 2000 week begins April 23 at The Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain with live music, a T-shirt Graffiti Party, the great Twister tournament and a chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle for a day. The cost is $30, or $15 with a Reunion Benefit Card. The benefit card will provide discounts of up to 25 per cent on shopping, rentals, dining, clothing and Reunion 2000 events. A Trivia Night Game Show on April 26 will follow The Price is Right/Let’s Make A Deal format and will deal with Whistler facts and fiction. Cost is $10 with the venue to be announced. Whistler’s History Ungroomed, a Museum and Archives FUNdraiser takes place April 27 at the Whistler Conference Centre. The plan is to have the tall tales and legends of Whistler interpreted by an improv comedy troupe. Cost is $30 and includes lunch. And if you have any Trooper LPs stuffed in the back of your Volkswagen, you better clean them up with the felt record cleaner. The Rock of Ages Parking Lot Party at Base II on Blackcomb Mountain will become a 1970s through to the 1990s music festival with Trooper, The Powder Blues, Grapes of Wrath, Loverboy, Doug and The Slugs and headliner Bif Naked. Billed as the biggest party of Reunion 2000, tickets for the eight-hour show are $30. The last major event of the week is Wrap Up at The Rendezvous April 30 at 11 a.m. Organizers are hoping most Reunion 2000 participants will meet here at the end of the week to exchange e-mail addresses and other means of keeping in touch. Cost is $15 for the three-hour gathering atop Blackcomb Mountain. Numerous other event are planned for the week-long event which require little or no cover charge, such as Hockey Night in Whistler for all ages and abilities, and the Rendezvous Romance Wedding Vow Renewal for married couples who wish to renew their wedding vows. More details and venues will be announced in Pique closer to the April 23 week. More information is also available on the Reunion 2000 web site at Tickets for all the above mentioned events are now available at all Whistler-Blackcomb guest relations and Ski School sales outlets by calling 932-3434, or 1-800-766-0449.
