With seemingly endless powder snow and ski runs to match, plus an abundance of small-town charm, it's easy to see why Revelstoke is quickly becoming more than just a destination for those who enjoy the back-country life.

It's one of the reasons Sally Robertson and the rest of the Royal LePage Revelstoke real estate team call the area home, and are dedicated to also help make it yours.

"We get some of the best powder snow conditions in the world here," Robertson said. "That's why about 90% of the heli-skiing worldwide is based out of Revelstoke."

And after Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened in 2007, it provided increased access for skiers to enjoy some of North America's longest runs.

"When the lifts went in just over a decade ago the area opened up more than 5,000 vertical feet of skiing," said Robertson, who, along with two others at Royal LePage served as ski patrollers at Whistler in the early 1990s. "That makes it the longest vertical descent in North America."

All of that has helped shift focus on Revelstoke as a place to call home.

"It's gone from a typical resource-based town to a resort. And that has changed the whole demographic of the community," Robertson explained. "But the charm has remained, and the skiing is so amazing that many people have decided to come live here."

She added what was typically an older demographic in Revelstoke has now become younger, with young families and young professionals who offer their resources to promote more ski tourism and associated businesses that make the area a four-season destination with spring and summer hiking and mountain-biking adventures.

To get prospective homebuyers into this changing, local market, which is currently weighted towards sellers due to lack of inventory, the Royal LePage team is there to help.

"Buyers right now have to be able to move quickly," Robertson said. "And you're not going to be as well positioned if you are simply looking at listings.

"Things can happen so quickly that having someone working for you on the ground can make a huge difference because we are finding that if people price their homes properly, they will sell quickly."
