Reward offered for robbery suspects

The Customs House Currency Exchange is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the capture of a thief who threatened an employee and stole an unspecified amount of money at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.

The Customs House Currency Exchange is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the capture of a thief who threatened an employee and stole an unspecified amount of money at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.

According to Peter Gustavson, the CEO of the Custom House Currency Exchange, nobody was injured in the robbery, and the company has launched its own internal investigation.

"The significant thing was that the person was able to breach security and threaten an employee," said Gustavson.

Gustavson says that the company uses a timed safe system, and has more than adequate security in place. As an added precaution, however, they will be adding additional security in the future as recommended by the company’s compliance department.

The RCMP are not releasing information from the case, but are preparing a statement in the future.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 604-932-3044, or the Custom House Currency Exchange Head Office at 250-995-2440, and ask to speak to Bernie Beck.
