With all the snow falling and a 90 per cent hotel occupancy slated for New Year’s Eve, picking up 2008 festivity tickets early might be a resolution to make for the closing of 2007. From DJs spinning dance floors to live bands jamming the night away, there are a lot of different ways to toast 2008.

What: Paddy New Year

Toast Guinness at midnight following a prime rib dinner buffet starting at 7 p.m. and high-energy Celtic and folk music from the Murphy’s Lagh Trio from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Hors d’oeuvre will be served as midnight nears as well as complimentary bubbly for a toast. Advance $135 tickets now on sale at the pub.

What: Hot Rod Blues New Year

Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz charge up hot rod blues with a naughty burlesque show full of theatrics, great music and not to mention hot babes. Tickets are $40 for the evening show starting at 9 p.m. Dinner is $25 beginning at 7 p.m.

What: Dancing with the Stars

Show off your moves with Dancing with The Stars — Whistler style. Foxtrot, waltz and tango with international dance professionals to the sweet sound of The SwingSoul Orchestra. See if the panel of judges will give your moves the thumbs up or send you back for lessons. Fuel up your dancing feet with a dazzling show of food presented at interactive stations as well as a Moet & Chandon toast. Tickets are $220 for adults and $110 for children 10 years old and under. Matt Graham of The Chambo Graham Show strums up a New Year’s party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

What: Way Back Play Back ’80s New Year

This electrifying night of music and friends will feature The Tainted Lovers with their highly stylized, non-stop entertainment as well as a lavish ’80s themed buffet crafted by executive chef Scott Thomas Dolbee. Get ready to ring in the New Year loud, hard and fast a little early this year, on Dec. 30 with Savannah, A Textbook Tragedy and The Death Rays. Tickets are $8. Doors 9:30 p.m.

What: Mallard New Year

The Taylor James Duo featuring Paul Lane delivers smooth grooves for the martini clinking crowd covering everything from U2 to Joni Mitchell from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Richard Samuels plays après from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. No cover.

What: Hairfarmers New Year

Local legends Guitar Doug and Grateful Greg of Hairfarmer’s fame return for another sell-out local New Year’s show. They maybe Whistler boys, but their music has international acclaim with shows all over North America as well as headlining shows for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. Voted Best Musicians in Whistler too many times to count, check out the former truck driver and Armani model to see what this town is truly all about. The boys start strumming at 3:30 p.m. for après then into the late night hours for midnight celebrations. Always cheap cover, but arrive early to get in.

What: New Years Eve Party

Spy vs. Spy with local acoustic duo plays all your cover favourites. Cover $10.

What: New Year Celebration

Dubh Linn Gate favourite Rob Thompson pairs up with Doug Reansbury on guitar to play all your favourites. Evening also includes party favours as well as bubbly and appetizers served at midnight. Four and five course dinner seatings as well. Show tickets are $50. Starts at 9 p.m.

What: Blues New Year

The Madison Blues Band is all about Chicago style blues. The six-piece band last came to Squamish to perform at Wild at Art. They’ve also played such Vancouver venues as The Yale, Darbys and The Fairview. Tickets are $15 for music and bubbly toast at midnight. Three-course dinner additional $20. Party starts at 9 p.m.

What: Funk ’n’ Grooves New Year

Dance in the New Year with the funky sounds of Papa Josh and his magic disco machine. Two seatings for dinner, bubbles at midnight and live music from one grooving local who was voted Best Musician in Pemberton for 2007. Reservations must be made for dinner. Tickets are $15 for music and party.

What: A Chilly New Year

A giant mountain-esque ice sculpture will track down a glass of Champbull (sparkling with Red Bull) for each guest at this highly-energized 2008 celebration. Appetizers will be served throughout the night. Advance $100 tickets available at the Longhorn.

What: Uncorked! NYE 2008

Puf the Majik DJ and guest JT James from Raw Radio 101.9 FM play the hottest Top 40, R&B and floor-thumping party classics. The evening features party favours, gourmet appetizers and bubbly at midnight. Tickets are $75. Doors 7 p.m.

What: A Black and Silver Affair

What: New Years New York

New Year’s Eve doesn’t get any bigger than celebrating in Times Square in New York. Whistler brings the spirit of the Big Apple’s celebrations to Moe Joes with beats from DJ Neoteric, party favours, bubbly midnight toast and wine tastings between 8 and 10 p.m. Advance $75 tickets are on sale at Moe Joe’s.

Guest DJ spins Top 40, hip hop, dance and retro from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. The evening also includes a personal bottle of bubbly and appetizers after midnight. Table reservations are available at $400 each as well as VIP booths with Dom and strawberries. Tickets are $80 before Christmas, $100 after and $115 on New Year’s Eve.

What: Winter Wonderland New Year

Guest DJ spins Top 40, hip hop, dance and retro from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. The evening also includes a personal bottle of bubbly and appetizers after midnight. Table reservations are available at $400 each as well as VIP Dom Perignon room for high rollers. Tickets are $100 before Christmas, $120 after and $130 on New Year’s Eve.
