Rody named top female road runner

B.C. Athletics, the sanctioning body for road running in B.C., named Whistler’s Kristina Rody as their Senior Female Road Runner of the Year for 2007, and will present her with an award this Saturday at their annual awards banquet.

Among her results this season is a first place finish in the Squamish Days 10K, a second place finish in the Stanley Park Seawall Summerfast 10K, a first place finish in the HBC Run for Canada (fourth overall, men and women), a first place in The Longest Day 5K, a first place in the Times Colonist 10K in Victoria, and first overall for both men and women in the Whistler Valley Trail Run 10K.

Locally, her course record for women in the Comfortably Numb Trail Run, which she set in the first year of the race, has also stood for the past four years.

Rody also hiked to Everest Base Camp in the fall as part of the Rise Above Barriers expedition, which pushed, pulled and carried a Victoria woman with MS — the mother of her partner Ollie Blake — on a three-week round trip in Nepal.
