Roll Kid returns

They grow up so fast.

One day they’re a chortling toddler trying to sing Eency Weency Spider and the next thing you know they’re a shaggy haired rocker matching Angus Young’s riff from the intro of Thunderstruck.

That’s right folks, Danny Sveinson, the 11-year-old rock guitar prodigy from Surrey B.C. is coming back to Whistler to perform at First Night, the RMOW’s community New Year’s Eve celebration.

Since Sveinson (pronounced SVANE-son) was last here on the main stage at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival he’s made the cover of the Georgia Strait, performed at more than 19 events including the Vancouver International Children’s Festival and the 35 th Anniversary celebration at Tom Lee Music in Vancouver. Plus, he’s signed on as a featured entertainer for the upcoming Next Snow youth ski and snowboard competition in Keystone Colorado.

As those that saw him back in April will tell you, this kid can really play. Throw anything or anyone at him: Hendrix, Rush, Zeppelin, he’s not fazed. Add to that the fact that he composes his own instrumentals. They don’t call him the rock ’n’ roll kid for nothing.

Sveinson and his band take the stage in Village Square at 8 p.m. Dec. 31. For ticket or event information go to www.whistler.ca or call 604-935-8188.
