The Rotary Club of Whistler and Whistler Search and Rescue
Society launched a joint fundraising project this week to benefit the local
Search and Rescue team.
Raffle tickets will be available for the next few months, leading
up to a draw on July 8. Prizes include a diamond tennis bracelet valued at
$3,750, four nights at the Hilton Wakoloa Hotel in Hawaii, a four-hour ride
with a snow groomer on Whistler Mountain, green fees for four with carts at the
Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, two prizes at the Whistler Golf Club, and
gift certificates for the Rimrock Café and La Rúa Restaurante.
The value of all donated prizes will be printed on the tickets.
Tickets are $10, and will be available through members of
Whistler Search and Rescue, Nesters Market, and the Farmer’s Market.
The raffle comes as Whistler Search and Rescue is wrapping up
one of its busiest winters in many years in terms of backcountry rescues.
“We are responsible for ensuring that our teams of volunteers are well-equipped and trained to the highest standards, and that takes considerable dollars,” said Dave Cathers, president of Whistler Search and Rescue. “The cost of equipment and ongoing training remain our challenge.”
