John Ryan’s Regeneration Tour is $8,500 richer in communications, thanks to a donation from the Resort Municipality of Whistler. The donation will help fund media co-ordinators and media kits. Muriel Honey and Alison Nearingburg, who worked extensively for the Rick Hansen Institute, have been hired do most of the media work as Ryan crosses the country. "I think this really important," says Mayor Hugh O’Reilly. "Media was one of the areas where the tour was having difficulty staying ahead." O’Reilly had earlier signed about 1,500 letters introducing the Regeneration Tour to every mayor in every municipality across Canada. The support of the municipalities means that so far, Ryan has had a solid line of RCMP escorts. "It’s marvellous, and I can’t say enough about how much we appreciate this," says Ann Yauniskis, tour administrator. "The key part of the whole tour is the media and how it is co-ordinated is crucial to the success of the tour." Ryan is currently in Quebec and is expected to arrive in Mont Tremblant by Saturday.
