School board looking for input

Reviewing vision, mission statements

The board of school trustees is seeking public input to help shape the future for School District No. 48.

Last fall the Howe Sound School Board held seven “Dialogues on the Future” meetings in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. The board has now released an interim report summarizing the findings and recommendations, and is looking for public feedback.

Board chair Dave Walden said the purpose of the meetings was to review the school district’s vision and mission statements and the core values that serve as the foundation for district policy and programs.

“The Olympic corridor has undergone many changes in recent years and these important guides to our actions need updating,” Walden said in a release.

The board decided to release the interim report now in the hope of obtaining as much feedback as possible before preparing the final report.

The interim report and a feedback questionnaire are available on the district website (www.sd48.bc.ca) and can be filled out online. They can also be obtained from the district office or any neighbourhood school. Feedback will be accepted until March 2.
