The School District 48 board of school trustees voted last night (Wednesday, Nov. 13) to move forward with a two-week spring break calendar with professional development days spread throughout the calendar year.

This is the preferred choice of a majority of the more than 500 people who participated in an online survey probing the popularity levels of four potential calendar options for the school district.

The decision was made at a regular meeting of the board Wednesday evening. The survey was conducted through October. Students, parents, teachers, school district employees and other school stakeholders were encouraged to fill out the survey.

At the same meeting, trustees also voted to reconfigure the Squamish area to include Grade 7 at Don Ross Secondary for September of 2014 and the trustees also voted to phase out the Squamish Late French Immersion Program and replace it with an Early French Immersion Program.

Check back for more information on the changes as additional details are released.
