Sea to Sky housing alternatives weighed

Public forum to discuss future housing options for corridor

The population of the Sea to Sky corridor is set to at least double by 2020, raising the issue of where, and how, people will live.

To discuss the different options available, the Sea to Sky communities, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Whistler Housing Authority and Smart Growth B.C. are hosting a public forum on housing choices on Wednesday, May 9. The forum will take place at MY Place from 7 to 9 p.m., to be preceded by a tour of the Beaver Flats residential development at 5 p.m.

Speakers for the evening including Patrick Condon of the UBC Design Centre for Sustainability, who will discuss neighbourhood alternatives; Heather Tremain of Resource Rethinking Building will speak on building design and choice; Ronaye Matthew of Cohousing Development Consulting will present alternative tenant arrangements; and Whistler Mayor Ken Melamed will discuss how housing innovations can be applied in the Sea to Sky corridor
