Whistler's Seamus Frew was first to the line in the annual Lumpy's Epic Trail Run in Pemberton on Sunday, taking the lead early on the climb and holding onto it until the finish.
"It was pretty close all the way up the switchback, but once we were up on the flats I managed to break away a bit," he said. "It's pretty technical, which I think suited me. After that I just tried to maintain my speed all the way to the finish."
Frew finished the roughly 10-kilometre course in 37:20, followed by Colin Ferrie in 38:22 and J.F. Robert in 39:20. Stefan Sander-Green and Kevin Hodder rounded out the top 10 in 41:15 and 42:08.
Magi Scallion was the top female racer, placing sixth overall in 42:08. She was followed by Claire Daniels in 46:24, Kajsa Heyes in 47:58, Catherine O'Neill in 48:25 and Natalie Morel-Wood in 51:51.
The top junior was Austin Reith in 46:03, followed by Ian Reith in 51:07 and Joe Davies in 51:33.
All proceeds from the event go towards the Spud Valley Nordics jackrabbits youth programs.
