Another sex assault in Whistler
The second sex assault in just over one week has police again reminding people not to walk alone at night.
On Friday, Feb. 2 a woman was approached from behind, grabbed and fondled on a pathway between Eagle Drive and Highway 99 in Whistler Cay. The assault occurred at 6:45 a.m.
The victim hit her attacker in the head and the groin and ran to a local business where she called police.
Cst. Ann-Marie Gallup said the victim did the right thing by screaming, fighting back and running for help.
Ten days before this incident another female was sexually assaulted on Eva Lake Road. She too took fought back.
“There’s nothing at this point to indicate that the two (assaults) are related,” said Gallup. “We just want everyone to be aware of it.”
The most recent attacker is described as a white male between 20 and 30 years old, of medium build and height. The victim said her attacker smelled strongly of liquor. He was wearing a green sweater and blue jeans and has brown spiked hair.
January’s attacker was wearing a dark balaclava and had bushy eyebrows.
Police are again reminding community members to walk with a partner, make sure they are in visible well-lit areas and to report any suspicious people to the RCMP.

Suspect turns himself into police
A 27-year-old male turned himself into police following a December incident in which two police officers were bear sprayed.
Alfred Joseph Tremblay will appear in court charged with one count of assaulting a peace officer and once count of assault with a weapon.
Police had issued a warrant for Tremblay’s arrest following a Dec. 22 incident in the village.
At that time two foot-patrol officers were conducting a drug investigation when they were attacked with bear spray. The suspects immediately fled and the officers received medical attention.
Cst. Gallup said the officers recovered from the attack.
