Seniors needs the focus of MAC meeting

Whistler’s "young of heart" can take heart to know that seniors issues will be top priority at the Mature Action Committee’s annual general meeting on Thursday.

A community workshop at the meeting will look at the needs of an aging population in Whistler.

Guest speakers will include some familiar faces as well as some new ones.

Mike Vance, general manager of community initiatives at the RMOW and Tim Wake, general manager of the Whistler Housing Authority, will be talking about seniors issues as they relate to the Comprehensive Sustainability Plan.

Then noted Canadian geronotologist, Dr. Gerald Hodge, will talk about making a seniors-smart community.

MAC members, potential members and anyone else who is interested are welcome to come.

The AGM will take place at MY Place on Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m. The workshop will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
