She Stole My Beer Play Bill’s, May 10 & 11

Long time Whistler favourites She Stole My Beer play Buffalo Bill’s next week.

"We’ll be having fun as usual," said Dean Waisman, part time drummer, full time software consultant in Vancouver.

The band, who toured extensively across the Canadian college circuit for thirsty students through the early to mid-‘90s, now play five or six times a year while pursuing other projects.

Drummer Geoff Hicks, who still plays in a variety of musical outfits, returns this week from touring with the stomp-Latin-folk band The Paperboys.

"It’s just a great chance to get together and play music, and we really enjoy each other’s company," said Waisman.

Part of what he dubbed the ‘good weather local outdoor party’ entertainment in Whistler for years, She Stole My Beer, is back with some new covers. But they are still under wraps.

The band lineup includes Jordan White (chef at Uli’s Flipside) on keys, Franco Diligenti on percussion, Tom Taylor on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Chad Chilibeck on lead guitar and vocals, David Hughes on bass and vocals, and Geoff Hicks, returning from touring as The Paperboys’ drummer. Taylor and Chilibeck arrange most songs for the band.

You can expect to hear songs off their debut album Sparks Off the Guard Rail, Live at the Liquid Ranch, a compilation recorded at venues around town, and Mule, released through MCA.

Classics from the Allman Brothers band and the Grateful Dead (Franklin’s Tower) are part of the revelry.

The band, whose last gig was jamming for a Vancouver boat cruise on New Year’s night, promise two nights of entertaining riffs.
