Shower of Stoles steals the show

A colourful display of stoles, thin scarf-like religious vestments, is currently exhibited on the stage of the Franz Wilhelmsen Hall at Millennium Place until Sunday, Aug. 3.

Many of the stoles on display are from people who have been excluded from service in their faith because of their sexual orientation. There are stoles representing 21 denominations from five different countries. The mission of the Shower of Stoles is "to end discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of faith."

The display was brought to Whistler by the Whistler Village Church. The Church does not take a stand on the issue. Instead, the display is there to prompt discussion and dialogue.
