Interest has been high for the inaugural Lost Lake Shuffle Nordic Relay this Saturday, an enduro event in which individuals and teams see how many laps they can make of a 3.5 km Lost Lake course on skinny skis in a four-hour period.

According to event organizers Ian Goldstone and Chris Waller from the Cross Country Connection, the Shuffle is a fun race that you can take as seriously or as casually as you want.

"This is a great opportunity for cross country skiers who’ve never raced before to try out racing with a group of their friends and just have some fun," says Goldstone.

The 3.5 km course includes the Lost Lake Loop, Lower Panorama, and the Old Mill Road.

Teams can be all-male, all-female, co-ed or junior. Family teams will race a special shorter course.

Some of the more serious racers are entering the Shuffle as a warmup event for the annual Fairmont Chateau Whistler Loppet the following weekend.

You can register in advance by contacting the Cross Country Connection at 604-905-0071, or on race day between 8 and 10 a.m. at the Cross Country Connection.

The cost is $30 for solo racers, $75 for teams, and $55 for families, including a post-race party with draw prizes.
