Slo Pitch tournament team heading to nationals

Team looking for sponsorship, support

Whistler Slo Pitch is having another great season after placing first in their first three tournaments of 2011.

They are now getting ready for the nationals in Niagara Falls, Ontario in July. The team is looking to raise money through sponsorships and fundraisers to help the group cover the costs of the seven-day tournament where they'll compete in the Competitive A category.

The team has been together for five years now, and last year won five tournaments with a total record of 39 wins and just four losses. They won the provincials in Kelowna, which secured the team a berth in the nationals.

This season they have competed in four tournaments so far, losing in just one of them after being eliminated in the semi-final.

The team is comprised of Michaela Opper (first base, coach and captain), Pat Renshaw (pitcher), Geoff Lawrence (shorstop), Sam Decoste (center field), Brian Dixon (second base), Jeff MacLean (left field), Jo Cote (right field), John Dancy (pitcher), Mike Jansen (utility player for any position), KayLee Hansen (third base), Jaci Maddocks (center right field), Jeannie Dancy (center left field) and Krystie MacLean (catcher).

If you can help the team with a sponsorship or fundraiser, contact Michaela Opper at
