Slope Side puts riders to the test

Slope Side Supply and Samurai Sushi put riders to the test, literally, in the weekly Loonie Race on Thursday, Aug. 19.

More than 188 WORCA members took part in the race, which wrapped up with an after party at the spit on Green Lake.

The format of the race was a time trial, with 10 second gaps between riders at the start.

Brandi Heisterman was the top woman, finishing the Lost Lake course in 39 minutes and 44 seconds. Kristen Johnson was second in 40:40, Ronni Lister third in 40:48, Jen Keefer fourth in 41:51 and Niki Kassels fifth in 42:21.

In the junior category Tyler Allison was first in 44:32. Nicky Geddes was second in 46:48, and the team of Caroline Lamont and Mahon Lamont were third in 58:01.

Kevin Phelps won the men’s trial, finishing the course in 32:42. Matt Ryan was second in 33:21, Ryan Watts third in 33:54, Greg Grant fourth in 34:36 and Trevor Lumley fifth in 35:08.
