SLRD Administrator resigns

Paul Edgington announces resignation effective August 8

Paul Edgington, the chief administrative officer of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, has resigned after nine years on the job.

The news was announced in a press release from the regional district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the release, the resignation was made official August 8. Edgington previously said that he would be returning to work on that date.

In almost a decade on the job, Edgington oversaw the regional district as many important developments took place throughout the Sea to Sky region.

The regional district, which provides governance to unincorporated areas surrounding municipalities, thanked in him particular for the "leadership" he showed while fires raged throughout the regional district in 2009.

At that time, fires burned on Copperdome Mountain and the Camel's Back in the Pemberton Meadows, as well as around Lillooet. The regional district was quickly transformed into an Emergency Operations Centre to provide real-time information and services to residents affected by the fires.
