Whistler-based Sno-Limo Mountain Ecotouring, an on-mountain
company that gives non-skiers a chance to tour the alpine in specially designed
chairs, wrapped up its second winter in operation with an expansion to Grouse
Mountain, Sun Peaks and Big White. Next winter the company will go
international, with Sno-Limo partnering with Prince Hotels to offer services at
three Japanese resorts — Myoko, Akakura and Naeba.
The service is getting a lot of use in Whistler. In addition to
tourists, Sno-Limo has been used to film television shows and movies, and to
transport media around the mountains.
The company was founded in Whistler by Paul Auger, a ski
instructor for 20 years. The chair was also designed locally to allow guides to
easily steer and guide guests, and to be loaded onto lifts.
