Whistler RCMP said a 30-year-old Langley man was in "very serious" condition after accidentally driving his snowmobile off a 31-metre cliff Sunday, April 13.

A friend of the injured party called the detachment to report the incident in the Brandywine Triconie area, and told police the sledder was unconscious after the fall.

Whistler Search and Rescue attended the scene, and airlifted the man to Squamish hospital before he was taken to Vancouver General Hospital for treatment.

Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair did not have an update on the man's condition.

masturbating man reported again

For the second time in just over a week, a man was reportedly seen masturbating in a parked car in Whistler.

The latest incident was reported Friday, April 11 by a complainant who allegedly observed a man masturbating in a vehicle in Day Lot 2.

"He wasn't located, but given the same (physical) description and vehicle description, we suspect it's the same male," LeClair said.

On April 2, police received a report of a man masturbating in a car in the Marketplace parking lot. Police attended at that point and observed the male's belt and pants were undone. The suspect is from Pemberton.

Police are continuing investigation into both incidents and it's expected that additional charges could be laid against the suspect, LeClair said.

Driver in crash showed signs of intoxication, RCMP says

A 22-year-old Lillooet man and a passenger were taken to hospital for injuries Saturday, April 11, after a single-vehicle collision ignited a fire along Pemberton Portage Road.

Police attended the scene, LeClair said, and observed fire and smoke spreading from the damaged vehicle. The driver, who was exhibiting signs of intoxication, suffered a rib injury, while the passenger sustained a possible broken wrist, LeClair said.

A sample of the driver's blood was taken at a Pemberton clinic and will be analyzed to determine if the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, police said.

alcohol involved in motorcycle-bus collision, police say

A motorcyclist who collided with a Whistler Transit bus Saturday exhibited signs of intoxication at the time of the afternoon crash, police believe.

The 27-year-old Surrey man struck a bus in the 4500 block of Blackcomb Way, and was taken to Vancouver hospital with internal injuries, RCMP said.

Officers attended the scene and spoke with eyewitnesses to determine the cause of the crash.

"It appears there was alcohol involved and the driver was a prohibited driver," LeClair said.

Police executed a search warrant at Vancouver General Hospital to obtain a blood sample for the possible offence of impaired driving. The suspect is facing a charge of driving while prohibited as well, LeClair noted.

Police reported a "very typical" opening weekend for the 19th annual World Ski and Snowboard Festival, with only a handful of individuals detained in cells.

LeClair said two people were lodged in cells on Friday, and five more on Saturday "for a variety of tickets," including public intoxication.
