Soul places in competition

First and second

The Soul Funktion Competitive Dance Team placed second overall at the 5,6,7,8 Showtime dance competition last weekend in Sun Peaks despite one dancer being rushed to the hospital with appendicitis.

"Everyone danced for themselves but all of you showed how important your teammates are when we had to dance minus one dancer and before every number we decided it was a dance for Emma," wrote studio owner Codi Dalen to her team. "I think everyone can be very impressed with the performance of our competitive team."

Whistler’s first adult competitive team also won Adult Dancers of the Year. Susie Howe, Lori Laidlaw, Eileen Craig, Theresa Oswald, Sara Leach and Chikako Akama performed the tap routine Din Daa Daa choreographed by Dalen.

The competitive teams will perform in the competition finals held over the July long weekend in Whistler.
