The Armadillo Strings Quartet are part of the summer street entertainment in the village this weekend. Check out the classical music in the mountains!


The village walkways will come alive from Fri. July 30 to Mon. Aug. 2 with a weekend of classical music in the mountains. The village will feature the sounds of top musicians Richard and Phil Benyon, the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Armadillo Strings Quartet. Stay tuned for the upcoming street performers throughout the summer in this Tourism Whistler program.


The 3 rd annual BBQ Championships will run from Fri. July 30 to Sun. Aug. 1. Roughly 50 teams will be grilling during this weekend full of good food and live entertainment. Check out the scene in Creekside at Dusty’s Bar & Grill.


Stock up on summer reading at the used book sale on Sat. July 31 in front of the IGA in Marketplace. The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a good selection of books ranging from kids to adults, fiction, non-fiction, CD’s and magazines.


Get your cowboy boots shined up and get ready to two-step at the annual Pemberton Barn Dance on Sat. Aug. 31. The night begins at 8 p.m. and run until 1 a.m. at the Copperdome Root House. The musical sounds from Welder’s Daughter and Big Root will get your toes a tappin’. Tickets are $25. Call 604-894-6175 for more info.


Check out ‘Tron’ during the next LunaFlik at Lost Lake Park on Thurs. Aug. 5. The movie, which is about a hacker who is abducted into the world of a computer and forced to play gladiatorial games, begins at dusk. $2 for members, $4 for non-members. A special Lost Lake shuttle bus will take you to Lost Lake from Gondola Transit for 50 cents.


Get your car cleaned and help out local youth at the Whistler Youth Centre fundraising car wash on Sat. Aug. 7. The car wash will be held in the parking lot at municipal hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds will go to youth events at the centre.
