Last weekend the snowboarders vied for glory. This weekend the skiers will try their hands at the World Skiing Invitational. The WSSF events are coming fast and furious now as the 10-day festival wraps up for another year. CHORAL CONCERT>>

The Whistler Singers Choir is putting on a choral concert at MY Place on Fri. April 23 at 8 p.m. The show will include a sideshow of local musicians. Tix. $9-13. Call 604-935-8410.

This Whistler Public Library Fundraiser will be held at the Westin Resort and Spa at 6:30 p.m. on Sat. April 24. Limited tickets are available at $125. Call 604-932-5564.

PITCH IN DAY/E-WASTE DAY>>

Non-profit groups will be cleaning up litter in the valley to help raise funds on Sat. April 24. Residents are asked to help out by cleaning up litter in their own yard. Free waste disposal at the landfill on Sat. April 24 and Sun. April 25. Call 604-935-8300 if you want to help out. E-Waste Day is on Sun. April 25. Drop off old computers at the Whistler landfill from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Whistler Rotary will also collect old cell phones at that time.

Looking for something new or selling something old? Go to the WORCA bike swap on Sat. April 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Creekside at the base of the gondola.

What a coup to end the Sustainability Speaker Series! Dr. David Suzuki is coming to Whistler on Mon. April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Whistler Conference Centre. Dr. Suzuki will talk about "Sustainability within a Generation: A New Vision for Canada." Admission is by donation.

It’s another martial arts/yoga/breakdance combo class for the next Late Night & Unique Nighttime Alternatives on Thurs. April 29 from 8 to 11 p.m. The $2 class is taught by a professional martial arts instructor at the Spruce Grove Field House.

SECOND CUT PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS>>

The collection of films that didn’t make the cut at the WSSF Filmmaker Showdown will hit the screen at the Longhorn Saloon on Thurs. April 29. Screenings start at 8 p.m. Tix $10, includes two beers and a burger. Proceeds go to Zero Ceiling. Call 604-938-3138.
