What: BASKETBALL TOURNEY Three teams from Vancouver are coming up to join Whistler Secondary School Boy’s Senior Basketball Team in an all day tournament. Everyone is invited to come out and watch the action at this free event.

What: FINE ART AUCTION Chali-Rosso Art Gallery presents a special collection of artwork by European Masters Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro and Henri Matisse. A collection of unique paintings from local artists will also be up for auction. For more info, call 604-733-3594.

What: ICE BREAK-UP RAFFLE A launch party for Alta Lake School’s Ice Break-up Raffle will kick off with cross-country skiing or hiking across the lake to place a barrel on the ice in the middle of the lake. People can guess when the ice will break up and the barrel will float past the Youth Hostel. Tickets are $3 each or 2 for $5, available at the Launch party. Winner receives $250 and a trophy.

What: GREAT WHISTLER PARADE A part of Celebration 2010, this parade will feature a community percussion band, lanterns, banners and costumes. This event will feature Whistler culture and sports through the four seasons of the year.

What: FIS WORLD CUP ALPINE SKI RACES The Whistler World Cup Alpine Ski Races will feature the women’s Downhill and Super Combined on Wild Card, Jimmy’s Joker, and Lower Franz’s run and the men’s Super G and Giant Slalom on the Upper and Lower Dave Murray Track. The event will also have lots of parties and free live concerts from various acts including rapper K-OS.
