What: WATER WOMAN Celebrate the divine feminine in the natural beauty of the Squamish Valley Campground. This ain’t no “Burning Man” – this is a chance to celebrate unity consciousness and together with others bless water and together pour it into the Squamish River, thus spreading good joy to the world. What: CANADIAN NATIONAL BBQ CHAMPIONSHIPS The highlight of the Pacific Northwest’s competitive BBQ circuit and a qualifier event for the American Royal World Championships in Kansas City and the Jack Daniel’s World Championship event in Tennessee.

What: JAZZ VESPERS Whistler Village Church presents jazz in conversation with the Christian Story. Features Vancouver vocalist Sibel Thrasher of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” fame, as well as Cameron Chu, “Whistler’s most talented piano man.”

What: LUNAFLIKS See a movie in the heart of nature – or just Lost Lake Park. An inflatable screen lights up the night as cinephiles exercise their kino-eyes surrounded by Whistler’s patented natural environments. This week’s film – “This is England,” about a fatherless young man who doesn’t fit in until he meets a band of skinheads. $7 admission

What: KOKANEE CRANKWORX Whistler’s premier mountain biking event of the year. For nine days, the world’s most fearless and talented bikers vie for freeride glory in the loops and dirt of the Whistler Bike Park.

What: CHEESE ROLLING A first-ever in Canada – a load of adults rolling, falling, tumbling down a hill, all to chase after a block of cheese. It’s already a major hit in the UK, and now it’s coming to Canada.

What: WAG K9 WINE AND DINE FUNDRAISER Dogs get the royal treatment, with a gourmet three-course meal provided by Three Dog Bakery, and get it served to them on fancy dinnerware. Their owners, meanwhile, get a lowly buffet with wine from Peller Estates. Tickets $45 per person, $20 per dog

What: FEAST OF FIELDS FESTIVAL The Chateau Whistler has partnered with the FarmFolk/CityFolk Society for the third annual harvest festival, an event that aims to expose Whistler residents to the finest organic foods that the community can offer. Cost is $199 per person, gets each participant a night’s sleep at the Cheateau, as well as a private tour through Whistler’s Farmer’s Market and a brunch buffet at the Wildflower restaurant.

What: INAUGURAL MR. GAY CANADA COMPETITION Whistler is playing host to the first Canada-wide search for Mr. Gay Canada. The purpose is to identify people who take the responsibility to speak out for equal rights on a global stage.

When: Thursday September 18 – Sunday September 21

Where: Fairmont Chateau Whistler

What: RCMP SEA TO SKY REGIMENTAL BALL RCMP officers from all over Canada gather at this annual event to raise funds for Cops for Cancer. Event will include silent auction, live music, piping, a traditional grand march, and, of course, dancing with officers in red serge.
