What: DINE IN THE ALPINE Enjoy a sunset barbecue atop Whistler Mountain. There’s BBQ chicken, pork, corn on the cob, oven-baked biscuits and desserts. All the while you get to listen to some great live country and bluegrass music.

What: JAZZ VESPERS Join the Whistler Village Church to hear jazz in conversation with the Christian story. Featuring jazz vocalist Sibel Thrasher from the jazz revue “Ain’t Misbehavin,’” as well as Cameron Chu, Whistler’s most talented piano man.

What: TERRY FOX CARWASH The Whistler fire hall and the Four Seasons Hotel partner on a carwash fundraiser for the upcoming Terry Fox run. The firemen are known to do the run in full firefighting gear, and they need your support leading up to the big day.

When: Sunday August 24, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What: LUNAFLIKS See a movie in the heart of nature – or just Lost Lake Park. An inflatable screen lights up the night as cinephiles exercise their kino-eyes surrounded by Whistler’s patented natural environments. This week’s film – “Into the WIld,” by Academy Award winner Sean Penn. Pic tells of a college graduate who cashes in his money for law school and goes on a long journey all alone. $7 admission for non-members, $5 for members.

What: FEAST OF FIELDS FESTIVAL The Chateau Whistler has partnered with the FarmFolk/CityFolk Society for the third annual harvest festival, an event that aims to expose Whistler residents to the finest organic foods that the community can offer. Cost is $199 per person, gets each participant a night’s sleep at the Cheateau, as well as a private tour through Whistler’s Farmer’s Market and a brunch buffet at the Wildflower restaurant.

What: WHISTLER MUSEUM LEGO BUILDING COMPETITION Kids are invited to come and show off their favouriet activity by building it with LEGO! Whistler’s got all the best activities, and no one knows that better than the kids, so show us what you’ve got... with LEGO!

When: Saturday August 30, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

What: INAUGURAL MR. GAY CANADA COMPETITION Whistler is playing host to the first Canada-wide search for Mr. Gay Canada. The purpose is to identify people who take the responsibility to speak out for equal rights on a global stage.

When: Thursday September 18 – Sunday September 21

Where: Fairmont Chateau Whistler

What: RCMP SEA TO SKY REGIMENTAL BALL RCMP officers from all over Canada gather at this annual event to raise funds for Cops for Cancer. Event will include silent auction, live music, piping, a traditional grand march, and, of course, dancing with officers in red serge.
