When: Thursday September 10, 10 a.m. - noon

What: FREQUENCY FRIDAYS Kosmik presents Frequency Fridays featuring old school Whistler techno-turntablist tobias.dj, playing dubhouse and deep techno with a dose of dubstep and downtempo. It's also a fundraiser for AWARE through sales of Russell beer. Happens every Friday.

What: WHISTLER READERS AND WRITERS FESTIVAL More than 20 invited Canadian authors and editors will descend on Whistler for a weekend of word-wielding and poetry-slinging. Writers include Wayne Grady, Merilyn Simmonds, Shane Koyczan and Paul Grant. For more info visit www.theviciouscircle.ca.

What: INSIDE THE OLYMPIC INDUSTRY Dr. Helen Lenskyj, a professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Toronto and a staunch critic of the Olympic Games, talks about why she thinks it's time to reform the Games.

What: CHEAKAMUS CROSSING COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE The Whistler community is invited to get a look at a lasting Olympic legacy with a visit to Cheakamus Crossing. You'll be able to explore the site through tours of display homes, athlete residences and the high performance centre. BBQ lunch for all visitors.

When: Sunday September 13, 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

What: TRI-LULU Lululemon in the Village presents TRI-LULU, a Lululemon-inspired triathlon. Starts with a 30-minute spin at the Core, 30 minute run on the Lost Lake Trails and ends with a 30-minute yoga session in Rebagliati Park. Free for everyone. Bring runners and something to sweat in.

What: ROTARY FAMILY FUN DAY AND BC RIVERS DAY Rivers Day celebrates our rivers and provides an opportunity to learn about the roles that healthy watersheds play in our survival and well being. To be joined by Rotary's Family Fun Day.

When: Sunday September 20, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

What: BC RIVERS DAY IN PEMBERTON Stewardship Pemberton presents its second annual BC Rivers Day Celebration. It's a celebration of Pemberton's beautiful waterways at the northern edge of town with educational displays, interactive events, a silent auction and BBQ by donation.

When: Sunday September 20, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Where: One Mile Lake Park

 

What: WHISTLER CHAMBER SOCIAL The Whistler Chamber of Commerce invites its members and their guests to a September social event. It's a chance for members and guests alike to mingle and mix in a casual environment after work. No registration required.
