What: WHISTLER SOLAR DAYS The Resort Municipality of Whistler presents BC Solar Days, an afternoon of activities on May 29. Watch kids race solar cars, learn about solar hot water by touring the installation at the Meadow Park Sports Centre and enjoy fun giveaways like t-shirts, magnets, green pens and sunflower seeds.

What: MAY FAIR The Whistler Waldorf School hosts May Fair, an annual event in this sunny month with crafts, music, May Pole Dancing, a puppet show, storytelling, a costume tent as well as food and a wishing pond. For more information call Katherine Fawcett at (604) 966-8888.

What: WHISTLER HIGH OUTPUT BUSINESS NETWORK Introducing a new community business group aimed at bringing together local businesspeople, with a focus on increasing the interconnectivity of business in Whistler and the Lower Mainland in order to benefit the local community. What: FAMILY DINNER NIGHT The Whistler Community Services Society and the Resort Municipality of Whistler present a family dinner night, a chance to support Hunger Awareness Day by providing a dinner by donation or for a non-perishable food item. All proceeds go to the Society's food bank.

When: Tuesday June 1, 5:30 p.m.

What: AWARE ENVIRO FILM FESTIVAL The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment presents its annual Enviro Film Festival, this year screening three films including End of the Line, Rare Bird and Gardens of Destiny. Will also include a panel discussion on biodiversity issues in Whistler.

When: Thursday June 3, 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturday June 5, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Where: Whistler Public Library

 

What: ENVIROFEST The Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation present Enviro-Fest, an annual event aimed at showcasing environmentally friendly choices offered within the Whistler community. Call (604) 935-0772 to book your space by May 14.

What: GIANT PLANT SALE The Friends of the Library present the annual Giant Plant Sale, asking Whistler gardeners to contribute healthy perennials, vegetables and small shrubs to make the sale a success. It sells out every year, so please donate plants by talking to Christy Auer at (604) 932-4062.

When: Saturday June 12, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

What: LEADERSHIP CELEBRATION WITH OLYMPIAN CLARA HUGHES The Whistler Forum for Leadership and Dialogue presents an evening with Clara Hughes, one of Canada's greatest Olympians. She'll be at an afternoon celebration for the latest Leadership Cohort and will be guest speaker at a Leadership Celebration Dinner. Tickets $25 for the afternoon, $125 before June 1 for the dinner and $150 afterward.
