What: Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup - Help keep Canada's waters clean and healthy for the wildlife and communities that depend on them. This conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF saw over 98,000 kg of litter removed from shorelines in 2010. If left on shorelines, this litter would have had a serious impact on the health of oceans, lakes and rivers. For various locations of local cleanups in Sea to Sky, go to http://shorelinecleanup.ca . What: Zero Ceiling Spin Garden Fun-Raiser - a garden of spin bikes will be set up for riders to join in for one, two or up to six hours of spinning. The goal is to raise at least $5,000 to help support Zero Ceiling's Work-to-Live and Day Visit Programs for at-risk and homeless youth from the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and Vancouver. Pledges start at $20 for an individual to spin for one hour or a team of up to six can ride for the entire six hours for a minimum pledge of $150 (based on one rider per hour). Spin Garden riders can enjoy unlimited yoga and spectators are welcome to participate in the yoga classes by donation. Dancing is free. To register go to www.raceonline.ca . What: Sea to Sky Fair - The Sea to Sky Family Fair is an annual fun and informative event that puts everything families need under one roof. Bring the family and check out the entertainment, food and exhibitors. What: Art Workshops on the Lake Fundraiser - This event will focus on a raffle of original artwork created by emerging and professional artists including some of the Art Workshops instructors. Raffle tickets for the artwork are $50 each. Everyone who buys a raffle ticket will take home a painting. There will be a cash bar, complimentary appetizers and the opportunity to mingle with fellow artists and art lovers. For tickets call or drop by the Whistler Arts Council Office, which is located in Millennium Place. 604-935-8410.

What: Volunteer with Cops for Cancer - Cops for Cancer will be riding through Whistler on September 24 with two riders - Jeff Krauss and Katherine Reid - from the Sea to Sky Corridor this year. Canadian Cancer Society Whistler is assisting the two riders with their goal of $12,000 by hosting a car wash in Market Square on Sept 17 and selling raffle tickets on the 17th and 24th. Volunteers are needed to help wash cars, sell raffle tickets and help with the setup at each event. If you are able to spare a few hours, please RSVP jallen@bc.cancer.ca or or linda.godin@telus.com by Sunday, September 11.

 

What: Pemberton Women's Institute Country Fair - The annual Pemberton Women's Institute Country Fair is this Saturday. Baking, home made preserves, local produce, local artisans, live entertainment with Anita Burelson, food, and children's activities. Admission is free.

What: Beer and Wine Festival - the second annual Beer and Wine Festival at Fort Berens Estate Winery in Lillooet, B.C. will start at noon and go until sun down. Featuring a First Nations' blessing of the harvest, seven musical acts, wine tasting, beer tasting, wine and hops farm tours, vendors with local produce and crafts, plus a barbecue venison dinner by chef Jeff Alexander. Event is free.
