SUMMER STREET ENTERTAINMENT>>

The village walkways will come alive from Fri. July 9 to Sun. July11 with Whistler’s Colourful Characters street entertainment. Check out the nine-feet-tall and five-feet-wide Colossal Canadian Couple, The Trollsons, and the tricks of Sand Northrup, a 15-year veteran of unicycles, stilt-walking and juggling. Stay tuned for upcoming street performers throughout the summer in this Tourism Whistler program.

ARTWALK>>

The Whistler Arts Council brings Whistler’s first ArtWalk to town from July 3-31, 2004. ArtWalk is a Whistler village-wide exhibition of Sea to Sky corridor visual artists in non-traditional gallery spaces. Concurrent Opening Receptions will be on Fri. July 9 from 6:30-9 p.m. throughout the village giving everyone an opportunity to wander from reception to reception, hobnobbing with artists and performers that live and work in the Sea-to-Sky corridor. WHISTLER ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL>>

The main stage in Whistler’s Village Square will be the centre of all the action during Tourism Whistler’s Arts and Music Festival with free daily performances on Fri. July 9 and Sat. July 10. Check out music from Bara-Rumba, a 14-piece Afro-Cuban troupe, Mariachi Del Sol, a Mexican ensemble, Tango Paradiso, a classic Argentinean inspired group and many more.

COMEDY IN THE SKY>>

In conjunction with the Whistler Arts and Music Festival, a host of comics will be taking the stage at MY Place for two nights only on Fri. July 9 and 10. Check out Kevin Foxx, Brad Muise, John Beuhler, Toby Hargrave with Patrick Maliha and special guests. Tickets are $20/per person. Call 604-935-8418.

OUTDOOR FILM PRESENTATION>>

The Snow Walker, an award-winning vintage slice of Canadiana, will be presented at Lost Lake Park combined with live music and a picnic on Sat. July 10. The movie starts at 10 p.m. but an early picnic with tunes from The Rutherford Creek Collective kicks off the evening from 8-10 p.m. Tix $8. Kids under 12 free. Call 1-800-944-7853 for tix.

PEMBERTON SECONDARY REUNION>>

The Pemberton Secondary class of 1994 is having their 10-year high school reunion on Sat. July 10 from 2-6 p.m. at the old high school (now the community centre). Prepare for baseball and a pot-luck.

Four Rooms

is the next movie on the outdoor screen at Lost Lake Park with LUNA. The movie starts at dusk. A special shuttle bus leaves from Gondola Transit Exchange for 50 cents. $2 for members, $4 for non-members.

Everyone is invited to the Four Seasons Hotel ribbon cutting ceremony on Fri. July 16 at 12:30 p.m. There will be cake and refreshments from 1-4 p.m. along with some songs from the Whistler’s Children’s Chorus.
