The village walkways will come alive from Fri. Aug. 13 to Sun. Aug. 15 with Whistler’s World Music weekend. The sounds of Africa, Asia and Spain will float on the summer air. Stay tuned for the upcoming street performers throughout the summer in this Tourism Whistler program.

The Wildflower Restaurant is hosting its 3 ^rd Annual Charity Garage Sale on Sat. Aug. 14 at 7186 Spruce Grove Circle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be sporting goods, kitchen equipment, camping gear, furniture, kids toys and lots more. All proceeds will go to the Fairmont Foundation for local charities.

The second annual putting tournament and fundraiser will be held on Sat. Aug. 14 at the Riverside Putting Greens in memory of Whistler ski patroller Neil Falkner. Tournament begins at 1 p.m. The $30 entry fee includes green fees, BBQ and a prize draw.

Check out a dinner and comedy night show at the Pemberton Trail Steakhouse on Wed. Aug. 18. Vancouver comedians Jamie Hutchinson and Tim Reichert will take the stage at 9 p.m. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for dinner and show, $15 for show only. Donnie Darko, a fantasy trip in the neverland between fear and love, is the next LUNAFLIK at Rainbow Park on Thurs. Aug. 19 at dusk. Entry is $2 for LUNA members, $4 for non-members. WAVE is offering shuttles from Gondola Transit Exchange and the Meadow Park Sports Centre for $1.50. Celebrate the Ashlu River with local paddlers during the Ashlu River Whitewater Festival from Thurs. Aug. 19 to Sun. Aug. 22. The $45 event fee includes two nights camping, shuttles, guided trips by local paddlers, float trips, BBQ, party and more. For info call 604-892-3310.

The Whistler Dance Academy is putting on SWEET – swinging in the street – at their summer dance camp. Dancers ages 6-16 have the chance to study with international teachers from Aug. 23-27. Performances will take place Aug. 28-29. For information call 604-902-0990. Cost $225.
