The village walkways will come alive from Fri. Aug. 20 to Sun. Aug. 22 with Theatre in the Streets. This interactive weekend features street theatre by Whistler’s own Michele Bush, Twisted Tales and BellaLuna. Stay tuned for the upcoming street performers throughout the summer in this Tourism Whistler program.

ASHLU RIVER FESTIVAL>>

Celebrate the Ashlu River with local paddlers during the Ashlu River Whitewater Festival from Thurs. Aug. 19 to Sun. Aug. 22. The $45 event fee includes two nights camping, shuttles, guided trips by local paddlers, float trips, BBQ, party and more. For info call 604-892-3310.

THE CREEKING TREE STRING QUARTET>>

REEL ALTERNATIVES>>

The next Whistler Film Festival outdoor movie is ‘Go Further,’ the documentary of Woody Harrelson’s environment awareness-raising Simple Organic Living Tour. Harrelson’s point is that global transformation lies in small-scale changes that each of us can accomplish. The movie takes place at Lost Lake Park on Wed. Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. Tickets $8. SUMMER DANCE CAMP>>

The Whistler Dance Academy is putting on SWEET – swinging in the street – at their summer dance camp. Dancers ages 6-16 have the chance to study with international teachers from Aug. 23-27. Performances will take place Aug. 28-29. For information call 604-902-0990. Cost $225.
