The Whistler Astronomy Club is hosting a star gazing series on Saturday’s throughout September. Meet at Rainbow Park at 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, and 18. Intro to naked eye astronomy; binocular stargazing, and telescopic observation of deep sky objects.

PICTURING WHISTLER: LOCAL FACES, LOCAL SPACES>>

Check out the Whistler community registration and information fair on Sat. Sept. 11 at the Spring Creek Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Register for fall or seasonal recreational and leisure activities, talk to leaders and coaches, trade in equipment.

LUNA – ULTIMATE FRISBEE>>

Learn to play ultimate frisbee at the next Late & Unique Nighttime Alternatives event on Thurs. Sept. 16. First timers and old pros are welcome to pick up tips from the experts at Outdoor Adventures. FAMILY TREES OF WHISTLER BLACK BEARS>>

After a decade spent researching Whistler’s black bears, local bear researcher Michael Allen will share his vast knowledge and experience at a multimedia event on Fri. Sept. 17 at MY Place from 7 to 9 p.m. F eatures include initial results of bear hair DNA analysis and a discussion on patterns of inter-relatedness between black bear families in the Whistler valley.
