The 2 nd annual Scotty Brown Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Fri. Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Whistler Golf Course. Tickets are $100 or $30 for dinner only. The event is held in memory of longtime Whistler/Pemberton local who died in a car accident on the highway. All proceeds go to the Scotty Brown Memorial Fund. COSTUME SALE>>

The perfect sale as Halloween approaches at the Meadow Park Sports Centre on Sat. Oct. 2 from noon to 3 p.m. All proceeds go to Whistler Skating Club's 2005 Ice Show. FIRST AID FOR PETS>>

A pet first aid course on Oct. 2 or Oct. 3 teaches the judgment and skills needed for an emergency situation such as priority skills and artificial respiration, obstructed airways and CPR, eye and ear injuries, bleeding, wounds, poisoning and seizures. The course runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $4 + GST. To register call 604-905-1084.

CRAZY FOR LIFE>>

A true story about living with mental illness, Crazy For Life is written and performed by Victoria Maxwell and directed by Rondel Reynoldson. It tackles the subject of a bi-polar disorder with detail and humour. The play is presented by the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation on Tues. SPOKE N WORD CONTEST>>

A panel will judge the speeches of local high school students on the topic of ‘The Merits of Sustainable Transportation’ as part of the Commuter Challenge. The event gets underway at 7 p.m. on Wed. Oct. 6 at MY Place. Call 604-935-8410 for details.

USED BOOK SALE>>

Stock up on winter reading on Sat. Oct. 9 in front of IGA from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Books, magazines, videos, all sold by donation . All proceeds go to the school libraries at Spring Creek and Whistler Secondary.  Donation boxes located at Nesters Market, TD Canada Trust, Whistler Public Library, and Whistler Secondary and Spring Creek Schools.
