What: LUNAFLIKS Don’t miss out on this award-winning film Cidade de Deus (City of God) which is based on a true story set in Rio de Janeiro. DJs from High Grade Sound kick off the outdoor festivities at 9 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk. It’s a $5 entry, $3 with LUNA card. Make the evening more comfy with some lawn chairs and blankets. What: BBQ CHAMPIONSHIPS It’s the August long weekend and that means it’s the fourth annual Canadian National BBQ Championships with 50 teams competing for the grilling glory over a three day period. There’s music, contests, and mouth watering temptations on the grill. Samples will be available for hungry spectators. VIP tasting passes are available at Dusty’s for $5 with all proceeds donated to charity. Just follow the mouth watering smells to Creekside.

What: GIANT USED BOOK SALE Donations needed for the giant used book sale in aid of the Whistler Public Library. All types of books, magazines and videos welcome. Drop off boxes located at Nesters Market, TD Canada Trust in Marketplace and Whistler Public Library. For pick up of large donations or to volunteer call Jane Reid at 604-932-3665.
