What: GRIZZLY BEAR RECOVERY Learn about the Grizzly Bear Recovery Program for southwest BC. Tony Hamilton will be talking about the known and unknown aspects of local grizzly bear ecology. Admission by donation.

What: St. Patrick’s day Take out your best green ensemble, your shamrocks and your Shillelagh and celebrate everything Irish in Whistler for St. Patrick’s Day.

What: MURDERBALL Nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 78th Academy Awards, Murderball gives an inside look at the world of wheelchair rugby as the U.S. and Canadian team prepare for the Athens Paralympics Games. Entrance by donation to the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program.

What: LUNA - SKATE THE MINIRAMP Adults 18 and over are welcome to bring skateboards to the indoor miniramp as part of LUNA’s alcohol-free events. Some decks and helmets are available or bring your own. $2 or free for LUNA cardholders.

What: LUNA - SNOWBOUND Meet snowboarder Kevin Sansalone and the Sandbox crew and learn about shooting action films on the mountain. $5 or $3 for LUNA cardholders, includes a pie and a drink.

MEETINGS

What: Open house Learn more about the plans for the five acre Boot Pub site at the entrance to White Gold. The landowners are hoping to get the site rezoned for a townhouse subdivision including employee housing in the near future. Council is expected to consider the proposal in the coming months.

What: Council Date change! The next council meeting has been moved back one day to allow members of council attending the Paralympic Games to get to the meeting.

What: WORLD WATER DAY Local community groups are hosting a talk by Dr. John Calvert, professor in public policy and public administration at SFU, about one of our most precious commodities – water. The talk will be followed by a screening of ‘Thirst’ – a first hand look at the global coporate takeover of fresh water. Admission by donation. All welcome.

What: LEADERSHIP FOR A LEARNING CORRIDOR David Strangway from Quest University, Casey Dorin of Capilano College and Dr. Rick Erickson of the Howe Sound School District will talk about the future of learning in the corridor at the next Leadership Sea to Sky Forum.
