Bird Walk, 7 a.m. Canada Day

What: LUNA SUMMER FLICK LUNA’s first summer flick is the award-winning movie – The Chumscrubber . It will be shown at the Drive-In on LUNA’s new giant inflatable screen. This event will be cancelled in the event of rain. Call LUNA hotline for updates at 604-902-0769. $5/person, $15/car maximum.

What: RED BULL ELEVATION Forty of the world’s top BMX dirt jump riders have been invited to throw down at the Red Bull Elevation - billed as the most progressive dirt jumping contest in the world. Check out at the action in Mountain Square at the base of the Bike Park. Qualifying rounds take place from 12 to 6 p.m. on Fri. June 30, the finals take place on Sat. July 1 from 2-5 p.m.

Where: Base of Whistler Mountain

What: MONTHLY BIRD WALK Learn about local birds with birder Michael Thompson and the Whistler Naturalists. The walk starts at 7 a.m. but will be finished in time for the Canada Day parade – a great way to kick off Canada Day!

When: Saturday July 1, 7 a.m.

Where: Base of Lorimer Road

What: SPUD RUN This is a seven km trail run that starts at the Pemberton Community Centre with proceeds going to the Pemberton Trails Association and the Pemberton Dragon Boat Team. Registration is at 8 a.m., the race begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $12/adults, $5/children, and $20/family. Call Jeanette at 604-894-6618.

What: CANADA DAY PARADE The annual Canada Day Parade takes place in Whistler Village, starting at 2 p.m. from the Day Lots on Blackcomb Way and ending at Town Plaza Gazebo where there will be cake, awards and music. What: LOST LAKE LUNA FLICKS One of the best ways to spend a Thursday night in Whistler! LUNA’s first outdoor movie at Lost Lake is It’s All Gone Pete Tong - the tale of English DJ Frankie Wilde. Entry is $5/$3. Bring your blankets and leave the booze at home. For info call the LUNA hotline at 604-935-8372.

What: LEGO BUILDING COMPETITION The Whistler Museum is giving adults and kids the chance to be creative and learn about their community with its annual lego building competition. This year’s theme is "Mountain Life." The cost is $10/family. For more info and to pre-register call the Museum at 604-932-2019. Space is limited so register early.

Where: Spruce Grove Field House

What: WHISTLER CHILDREN’S ART FESTIVAL It’s the family festival of Whistler! Kids can enjoy a storytime area, face painting and street performers.
