What: BOBSLEIGH AND SKELETON RECRUITMENT CAMPS Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton is hosting three recruitment camps in the Sea to Sky Corridor to recruit a new generation of bobsleigh athletes. There will be a physical testing session for all B.C. athletes looking for a career in either sliding sport.

When: Friday September 5 to Sunday September 7

Where: Friday – Brennan Park Recreation Centre; Saturday – Meadow Park Sports Centre; Sunday – Signal Hill Elementary School

What: PEMBERTON EQUIFEST A festival to celebarte horsemanship and the attitude that goes with it. The event will show what horses can accomplish, as well as what their riders can make them do. Also features car show and dinner and dance.

What: 2010 BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WORKSHOP The Whistler Chamber of Commerce hosts a workshop to identify 2010 procurement opportunities, how to create successful bids and how you can interpret and respond to bid opportunities.

What: BETWEEN SHIFTS THEATRE AUDITION Between Shifts theatre in Squamish is looking to audition peopel for its latest production – “Garry Plotter and the Pantomimer’s Stone.” Participants are asked to prepare a song, or at least part of one, and be ready for a cold read. All participants must be 16 years of age or older. Callbacks Thursday, September 11, 7 p.m.

What: COMMUNITY CELEBRATION TO MARK CLOSING OF PARALYMPIC GAMES The Resort Municipality of Whistler, along with several partners, is hosting a community celebration to celebrate the closing of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and the beginning of the home stretch to the 2010 Winter Games.

When: Tuesday September 16, 4 – 6 p.m.

What: INAUGURAL MR. GAY CANADA COMPETITION Whistler is playing host to the first Canada-wide search for Mr. Gay Canada. The purpose is to identify people who take the responsibility to speak out for equal rights on a global stage.

When: Thursday September 18 – Sunday September 21

What: RCMP SEA TO SKY REGIMENTAL BALL RCMP officers from all over Canada gather at this annual event to raise funds for Cops for Cancer. Event will include silent auction, live music, piping, a traditional grand march, and, of course, dancing with officers in red serge.

When: Saturday September 20, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Westin Resort and Spa

What: ARTWALK WEEKEND VISUALS, the Squamish Valley Artists Society, presentes ArtWalk Weekend, where participants meet over 30 artists on a self-guided tour. $1,700 in art prizes will be drawn over the weekend when you go on the Key to Art Quest.
